William Diaz

William Diaz, 80, of Yakima, WA passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024.

William was born on September 15, 1943 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to the late Victor Diaz and Anna Acevedo.

Raised in Jersey City, NJ, William was an entrepreneur; he owned a mechanic shop and was into racing. His favorite track to race was Englishtown Raceway. In 1976 the family decided to move to Puerto Rico were he lived in Anasco, Puerto Rico. He continued his love for the sport of racing until finally he had his own race track “Lil Millie Raceway”. He helped and encouraged many people in the sport and after 13 years he returned to Jersey City and later moved to Washington State where he continued working as a mechanic for over 30 years. He traveled to visit family in New Jersey and Puerto Rico, he loved living in Washington. William also enjoyed nature. Spending time at rivers and lakes was very peaceful to him.

William is survived by his 4 loving children William, David, Tony and Millie Diaz and his step-children Jorge, Jose and Amilia (Coco) a brother Victor M. Diaz and grandchildren, Iliana C. Christy, Amanda, Jessica, Alexia, Olivia and Joshua. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Felix Diaz.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 1-4PM at Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
