William Fredrick Brenner

April 9, 1954 — May 17, 2020

William Fredrick Brenner, Jr (Bill) passed away on Sunday, May 17th in Dover, NJ after a long struggle following heart surgery in January. His loving wife, Sharon, was by his side.
Born April 9th, 1954 in Newark, NJ, Bill grew up in Newark and Woodbridge before attending Rider College from 1972-1975. He played basketball and proudly coached CYO basketball. He married his first love and mother of his children, Virginia (King) Brenner, shortly after college. They relocated to Great Meadows, NJ in 1987 where they raised their boys. Bill coached many of the boys' sports teams and was a Boy Scout leader for years. He was spirited in his support of his favorite teams- whichever one his sons were on, and his love of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. A perfect afternoon was spent at a local minor league baseball game, right behind the catcher voicing his opinion. Always a people person, Bill worked in human resources since the early 80s at Charles of the Ritz Group, ADP and for the past 12 years at NJ Water Supply Authority. He was a beloved coworker to all. His love of the beach and family vacations has been passed on to his family as well as his love of classic movies and TV shows.
Bill is predeceased by his father, William F. Brenner and his wife of 37 years, Virginia, in 2014. In 2017, love and happiness were once again brought to his life by marrying his current wife, Sharon (Weed) with whom he loved to travel and had planned on spending many, many more years together.
With heavy hearts, Bill is survived by his wife Sharon; his mother, Lorraine Brenner; his mother-in-law Joan Weed, his son William F. Brenner III and grandson Skye Starkins; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Kelly Brenner, grandson Dylan Reed and his first granddaughter due in August; step son and daughter-in-law George and Daria Clements, step sons and fiancé Joshua Clements and Rachael Fishbein, step daughter Meghan Clements, step son Zachary Clements, brother and sister-in-law John and Marisa Brenner; and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Jeannie Brenner, brother in-law and sister in-law Edward and Laurie Weed. 'Uncle Billy' leaves behind a fan club of nieces and nephews as well: Laura (Sternesky), Jack, Madalyn, Jordan, Jake and Jenna Brenner, Michael, Christopher, Edward, Payton and Logan Weed. He truly was loved by all who encountered him.
Memorial donations may be made in Bill's name to the Alzheimer's Association to honor Virginia.
Due to current public gathering restrictions, the memorial service that Bill deserves will be announced at a later date.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Maguire-Scala Memorial Home 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840, (908)-852-2420.
