Vincent Rendenna, 90, died August 19, 2026 at Hackettstown Medical Center. Vincent was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived there until 1957 when he married his first wife, Irene. After spending two years in the Armed Services where he served in Korea as a battalion radio operator to the commander, he graduated from NJ Institute of Technology with an electrical engineering degree (BSEE). He moved to Manchester, NJ in 2001, where he resided with his second wife, Luisa.
He taught for two years in the computer science department at NYU and 17 years at Essex County College, Newark, NJ as an adjunct professor. He retired from AT&T Bell Labs after 50 years of service. However, he continued to teach for AT&T after retirement and also for The Teracom Training Institute of Canada.
While attending Ferris High School in Jersey City, NJ, he won the gold medal in gymnastics pommel horse competition. As an avid chess player, Vincent was Bergen County Chess Champ in 1969. He also served as Vice President of the Pelican Island Home Owners Association (2003-05).
Vincent’s interests centered around computers, amateur radio, playing poker, photography, chess, swimming, sailing and traveling. He is the son of the late Nancy and Severino (Sam) Rendenna, and predeceased by his brother Anthony, sister Joan Peghi, first-wife Irene and second-wife Louisa. He is survived by his son, Chris and wife, Alison and grandson Alexander; step-daughter Michele Moretti-Bender and husband, Marty. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:30pm on Sunday, August 23rd at Maguire Funeral Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24th at St. Theodore RC Church, 855 NJ-57, Port Murray, NJ, followed by burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery at 712 Grove Street, Montclair, NJ.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to St. Jude or any charity of your choice.
