Vilma H Cuy

Vilma H. Cuy, 82, of Mount Arlington, NJ and previously of Paramus, NJ passed away on March 1, 2020 at Mount Arlington Senior Living with loved ones by her side.
Vilma was born on April 21, 1937 in Bulan, Philippines to the late Virgilio and Daria Hallig.
Vilma was a teacher in the Philippines for many years before coming to the United States in 1983. After arriving in America she worked as a seamstress until she retired in 2004. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of the Mountain in Long Valley, NJ. Vilma cherished her family and enjoyed cooking meals for all the family gatherings. She will be missed by all those who knew her.
Vilma is survived by her loving daughters; Rowena Helstrom and her husband Kurt, and Diana O'Connell and her husband Matthew. She is also survived by her grandchildren Erik and Patrick, and her sister Valeriana.
In addition to her parents, Vilma is predeceased by her loving husband Avelino, who passed away in 2014, and her brother Rodrigo.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Vilma's name to Alzheimer's of New Jersey, 425 Eagle Rock Avenue, #203, Roseland, NJ 07068.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840, (908)-852-2420. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, Long Valley, NJ. Burial will follow at Hackettstown Union Cemetery.
