Victoria Simmons

Victoria Simmons, 91, of Oxford, NJ (formerly of Great Meadows) passed away peacefully on September 19, 2022 at home with her loving family by her side.

Victoria was born on June 17, 1931 in Great Meadows, NJ to the late Leon Penkul and Winkloric Kozlonoweskal. She was a graduate of Hackettstown High School. She married the love of her life John W.Simmons in 1956. They then purchased the current family home in 1957 where they raised and were devoted to their family. John passed on April 19, 2006. Victoria was employed at American Can for 33 years prior to her retirement. Victoria had a very strong faith. She enjoyed puzzles, sewing, crocheting, gardening and fashion. She loved to watch dancing shows and listen to polka music. Victoria was also an animal lover, particularly cats. Above all she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her loving grandchildren; Chelsea Simmons and Dale Stephens, her cherished great-grandson JJ Pinto; her niece and nephew Joanne Wright and Arthur Lencewicz and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John W. Simmons, she is preceded in death by her son John W. Simmons Jr and her 7 siblings.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 in the funeral home.
