Thomas Joseph Quigley, 89, formerly of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on June 21, 2018 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem, PA.
Thomas was born on June 25, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Thomas and Margaret Quigley.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He returned home to New York and held a few different job titles before opening a photography studio on Nicholas Ave in Ridgewood, NY. His decision to become a Chemical Engineer was fostered while working as a lab tech at KAFKA Color Labs. Using the GI Bill, he pursued his education at the City College of New York where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He married Patricia Holland in 1955 while still continuing his education. In 1965 he was hired as a Chemical Engineer at Picatinny Arsenal and he and his family relocated to Hackettstown, NJ where he eventually retired in 1993.
Thomas and his late wife, Patricia, were devout Catholics and very involved in their parish, Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary in Hackettstown. He was a 2nd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Thomas was an avid chess player, he enjoyed photography, tracing the family genealogy and camping. He also was a huge NY Yankees fan. Above all he loved his family and the time spent with them.
Thomas is survived by his loving children, Thomas W. Quigley, Mary E. Harden, Theresa F. Bailie, Ann G. Quigley, Cecilia B. Boyle and her husband James, Margaret R. Bressette and her husband Clifford(Bud), Maureen A. Farrell and her husband Dan, Patricia E. Hoffman, Joan F. Kearny and her husband Brian, and Christine M. Harris and her husband Mike. Also, two brothers, Patrick Quigley and Reverend Joseph Quigley, and a sister-in-law, Rosemary Quigley. His treasured grandchildren, George, Michael, Jaqueline, Rachel, Rebekah, Sarah, James, Erin, Patrick, Christal, Clifford, Shannon, Matthew, Tara, Katrina, Erica, Cassandra, Justin, Andrew, Nico and Adeline. He also leaves behind many Great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Quigley(July 11, 2003),a son, Martin Quigley, a daughter-in-law, Carolyne Quigley, two granddaughters, Heather Renee Lord and Mary Elizabeth Harden and 2 brothers Michael and Edward Quigley.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Internment will immediately follow the Mass Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, NJ
