Thomas W Lynch

Thomas W. Lynch, 77, of Long Valley, NJ and previously of Pottersville, NJ passed away on April 23, 2024 with loved ones by his side


Thomas was born on January 17, 1947 in Newark, NJ to the late John and Florence Lynch (nee. Rolleri).


Thom attended Union college in Cranford, NJ, where he studied literature. He began his career in painting in 1970 after being persuaded by a friend. His first portrait was of Georgia O’Keefe, which is in a private collection now. Thom chose a unique format for his artwork, using postage stamps to carry his message across. He also enjoyed painting eggs, cats, and shoes.


In April of 1990, two of his pieces were awarded prizes in the Soho International Art Competition. These works were “Alice on the Brink” and “Gathering Morning Glories”. In August of 1990, his work was included in a summer exhibit at the famed Ariel Gallery in Soho.


He owned his own interior decorating business for many years. During the 1980s, rooms that he had decorated appeared in “New Jersey Magazine”, “Inside N.Y. Design”, “Cosmopolitan” and “Newsweek”.


Thom is survived by his brother, Ken Lynch, his stepson, William Boone, brother-in-law, Dani Basalone, Sister-in-law, Susan Johnson and nieces and nephews; Brendan Lynch, Gregory Lynch, Shayna Lynch, Michael Wagner, Maxwell Wagner, Keith Johnson and his wife Betsy, Leon Basalone and Jamica Basalone. He also leaves behind great nieces and nephews; Gabril, Dominica, Halley and Noah and dear friends; Christine Phelps, Kristen Randel and her husband Greg Wolf, Sarah Randel, Alison [Randel] Morgan.


In addition to his parents, Thom is predeceased by his cherished wife, Deborah Murray, who passed away in 2021 and his niece, Melissa Wagner, who passed away in 2022, his sister Patricia Basalone and brother John Lynch.
