Therese Strifler, a long-time resident of the Hackettstown area, passed away on March 3, 2017. Therese was born on March 31, 1927 in Teisendorf, Germany to the late Andreas Zenz and Magdalena Zenz (Mayer).
Therese graduated school in Germany where she pursued her career as a master tailor. Once having immigrated to the United State, she quickly became well-known as an exceptionally talented seamstress. She met and married the love of her life, Michael Strifler, and resided in New Rochelle, NY, where they raised their three children. After their retirement, Therese and Michael moved to Hackettstown, NJ, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Therese was an avid walker and often walked from her home on East Baldwin Street to the Hackettstown Senior Citizen Center where she spent many hours volunteering in the kitchen. She enjoyed music, singing, and baking. Her recipes will be cherished for generations to come. Her kindness towards others and her willingness to always lend a helping hand have touched the hearts of many. Therese was a devote catholic and a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in Hackettstown. Above all, Therese loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 65 years Michael; her loving children, a daughter Ingrid Misurelli, a son George Strifler and his wife Virginia, and a son Walter Strifler; her grandchildren Frank Misurelli and his wife Erin, and Michael Misurelli, along with her great-grandchildren Joey, Grace, Jack and Frankie. She is predeceased by her beloved siblings, Rosalia Witt, Rosina Zwingert, Magdalena La Salvia, Emily Hansen, Maria Maier and Andreas Zenz. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday. March10, 2017 from 6-8PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High St. Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Funeral mass will take place Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11AM at The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ.
