Thaddeus J. Wheeler, 87, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. He was born on July 22, 1929 in Lansford, Pa. to the late Josephine and Theodore Wheeler.
Thaddeus graduated Valedictorian from St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City and received a Bachelor's degree in English from St. Peter's College in Jersey City. Dedicated to his country he served in the Army where he was a Morse Code instructor. He was employed 41 years at Colgate Palmolive in Jersey City. Thirty of those years he was in Human Resources. He retired in 1991 but continued to do some consulting for Colgate's for several years, both within the country and abroad. Thaddeus (or Ted as many knew him) was a very outgoing and friendly resident at Heath Village. He was President of the Residents Council, a member of the Heath Village Men's Club, enjoyed Tuesday nights playing poker, and traveling with the other residents in his community. Thaddeus enjoyed music, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader, Yankee and Giants fan. All who knew him will remember his keen sense of humor, his dedicated love for family and friends. Thaddeus is survived by his loving daughters Linda Marciano (Donald) and Dawn McCann; a son Russell Wheeler (Diane); 4 cherished grandchildren Melissa, Matthew, Kyle and Emily. He is predeceased by his wife of 44 years Joane Wheeler.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 2-6 PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A funeral mass will be Monday, January 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Good Shepherd, 48 Tranquility Road, Andover, NJ followed by an interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, East Brunswick, NJ Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
