Born in New City, NY September 7, 1979
Audio Engineer, concert Tour Manager and visual artist, Teresa Murray China died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 30th, 2023. She was a prolific traveler, touring the world with scores of musical acts, as well as spending a great deal of time sailing with her best friend, visual artist, Arielle Pytka.
Teresa was beloved by hundreds of people all over the world and was known for helping those in need and inspiring countless others in her field and in general. She started her career journey before finishing high school and was highly sought after, being one of the few women in that field at a time when the live music industry was dominated by men.
Teresa spent periods of her life in NYC, Detroit, Denver, London and Los Angeles, and finally settled in Independence Township, NJ where she was restoring her dream Victorian era home with her husband, Emilio China. While she continued to tour, when off the road, Teresa enjoyed being home with family, listening to music and painting pet portraits.
Always the jokester, Teresa found comedy in everything she encountered. She will be remembered with love and humor by her husband, Emilio DiZefalo China, her father, James Murray, her brothers, Dan and John Murray and their spouses, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 cats and a dog, as well a myriad intimates and colleagues she made feel like best friends.
Teresa is predeceased by her mother, Judith Murray.
A Private Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Teresa’s life.
