Stephen Romanowitch

Stephen Romanowitch Jr., 69, a lifelong resident of Great Meadows, NJ passed away peacefully on October 11, 2019 at home with his loving family by his side.
Stephen was born on April 7, 1950 in Newark, NJ to the late Stephen and Helen Romanowitch.
He was a graduate of Hackettstown High School class of 1969. He married the love of his life Jane (nee: McGowan) in 1971. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard. Stephen was employed at the Liberty Township Department of Public Works prior to his retirement in 2015. He was of the catholic faith and a parishioner of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Great Meadows, NJ. Stephen loved to travel the United States. He was an avid train collector and enjoyed sharing his hobby with his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker and his family meant everything to him. Stephen easily made friends and would help all those in need. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years Jane Romanowitch, his loving children; Stephen Romanowitch III and Karen Ingham and her husband Matthew; his cherished grandchildren; Ainslee and Parker Ingham; his caring siblings; Joe Romanowitch and Barbara Nemetz.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church 360 US Route 46, Great Meadows, NJ 07838. Burial will immediately follow the mass at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows.
