Shirley H Pennington

Shirley H. Pennington, 100, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024 at the House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, NJ.

Shirley was born on August 10, 1923 in Beatrice, Nebraska to the late William and Pauline Heckart.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Winona State College in Minnesota and her Master’s from Jersey City State, majoring in education. While living in Rochester, MN, Shirley met and married the love of her life, Stanley R. Pennington, who passed in 2006. They moved to New Jersey in 1958. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She was a classically trained pianist and organist and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hackettstown. Above all she loved her large and growing family. She will be greatly missed.

Shirley is survived by her loving children; Steven H. Pennington and his wife Georgene, Wayne D. Pennington and his wife Laura, Nancy DeSteno and her husband Robert as well as 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held in the chapel at the House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, NJ on Sunday, April 28 at 2:45 PM.
