Ruth Michniewicz

Ruth Michniewicz, 97, of Stroudsburg, PA (formerly of Hackettstown, NJ) passed away peacefully on October 1, 2017 in Bangor, PA.
Born on September 25, 1920 in Oxford, NJ to the late William and Lillian Haycock. Ruth was a graduate of Hackettstown High School. Ruth resided in Hackettstown until 1984. She then moved to Stroudsburg, PA. She was of the Catholic faith and a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Hackettstown for many years prior to moving to Stroudsburg, where she became a parishioner of St. Luke's parish.  She married the love of her life Anthony on her birthday in 1943. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2001.  Ruth enjoyed playing Bingo, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.  She also enjoyed baking and spent many years volunteering at schools.
She is survived by her loving children, Richard Michniewicz and his wife Beverly, James Michniewicz, Kathy Gesullo and her husband Ralph, Anne Michniewicz, Anthony Michniewicz, Marylou Michniewicz and her companion Dave Brader, Edward Michniewicz and his wife Wanda, Robert Michniewicz and his wife Joanne, and Dawn Michniewicz, 13 cherished grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her devoted husband Anthony and her brothers, Edward, Robert, Kenneth and Lewis Haycock.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 10-11:30 A.M at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 12:00 (Noon) at the Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary, 302 High St. Hackettstown, NJ 07840.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, NJ.
