Robert Thomas Taylor

Robert "Bobby" Thomas Taylor, 87, of Mount Olive, NJ passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on September 25, 2026 at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton, NJ.

Bobby was born on August 25, 1939 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Thurston and Christine Taylor.

In 1958, he married the love of his life, Margaret (nee Houghton), in Annapolis, Maryland. Together, they recently celebrated 68 years of marriage, they were blessed with three daughters, and made New Jersey their home for the past 56 years. Bobby earned his Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Maryland and went on to work as a CPA for the Continental Grain Company in New York City for many years until his retirement in 2004.

An avid sports fan, Bob passionately followed his alma mater, the University of Maryland Terrapins (the "Terps"), and was a diehard NY Jets fan. He also loved auto racing, frequently attending the Indianapolis and Pocono 500 over the years. In his free time, Bobby was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and had a passion for gardening, often tending to his plots at the Mount Olive community garden. Dedicated to animal welfare, he frequently volunteered with local Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives and continually encouraged others to adopt pets from local shelters.

Bobby is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years Margaret Taylor, his loving daughters; Christine Johnson and her husband George, Catherine Wagner and her husband Richard and Cherie Freire and her husband Julio, his brother; Raymond Taylor and his cherished grandchildren, Dylan Wagner, Ryan Wagner, Christopher Freire and Gabriella Freire.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 3-7 pm at Maguire Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church, 2 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853.
