Robert A. "Bob" Parr Jr., 79, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on March 29, 2021 at Troy Hills Center in Parsippany, NJ.
Bob was born on January 14, 1942 in Newark, NJ to the late Robert and Marcella Parr.
Bob grew up in Elizabeth, NJ and lived there even after he married the love of his life Joyce (nee; Volk) in 1965 before finally moving to Hackettstown. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2019. Bob was employed as a technician for Bell Atlantic, staying with the company through the many transitions to NJ Bell and then Verizon. He then worked as a project manager for M&E engineering consulting in 1996 until his retirement in 2000. It was at that time that he took an early retirement to take care of his 4 grandchildren. He cherished his grandchildren and could not bear to see them go to daycare. He was a member of the NRA and belonged to a gun club. He was an avid hunter, particularly pheasants and quail. He was a NASCAR fan and an avid reader of history. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Above all he loved his family and treasured every moment spent with them. He will be greatly missed.
Bob is survived by his loving children, son Robert and his wife Loanne, daughter Catherine Mupo and her husband Richard, his cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Rebecca, Joseph and Christopher, his sister Madeline Zdenek and her husband Peter and his brother-in-law David Volk and his wife Jane and four nephews, Greg, Michael, Andrew and Davey.
A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's name to the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, 750 Belvidere Ave., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
