Richard F Hockin, Jr

Richard F. Hockin Jr. 81, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.

Richard was born on September 22, 1942 in Irvington, NJ to the late Richard F. Hockin Sr. and Catherine (nee; Cullen).

Richard grew up in Long Valley, NJ prior to moving to Hackettstown 56 years ago. He was a graduate of West Morris High School. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corp Upon returning home, he married Janet La Pointe in 1966. Together they celebrated 33 years of marriage prior to her passing in 1999. He was employed as a truck driver for High Grade Beverage Company, retiring in 2014. Richard loved his antique cars, ‘56,’58 and ‘64 and looked forward to cruise nights at Wendy’s and parades. He had a collection of over 1300 dye cast trucks that he proudly displayed in cases he built. Richard enjoyed detailing cars, yard work and mowing his lawn. In his spare time he liked to solve Sudoku and Jigsaw puzzles. He was a dog lover, always owning at least 2 schnauzers at a time. Rich reconnected with Julie Mraw in 2018 and were engaged in 2022. Above all he loved his family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his loving daughters; Jacqueline Popson, Pam Rolser and her husband Michael and Wendy Prior, his cherished grandchildren; Austin and Kelsey Popson, Meghan Bade, Sean, Jeremy and Jason Rolser and Alexander and Gregory Prior, great-grandchildren and his fiancé Julie Mraw.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 2-4 PM and again at 7-9 PM at the Maguire Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, 2 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853. Burial will follow the Mass at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, NJ
