Regina "Jean" Muench of Hackettstown, N.J., passed away on March 5, 2017 among family. She was 86. Daughter of Josephine Creed and Charles Hopler, she was born on July 15, 1930.
Friends may visit Scala Memorial Home, 124 High St., Hackettstown, N.J., on Wednesday, March 8, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM., with Parastas at 9:00 AM. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Route 46 East, Great Meadows, N.J., with burial to follow at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, NJ.
Jean was born in East Orange, N.J., lived in Maplewood, N.J., Newark, N.J., and Union, N.J., before moving to Hackettstown. Jean attended Our Lady Help of Christians School, Class of 1944, and East Orange High School, Class of 1948. She was retired from the Home Insurance Company.
Mrs. Muench was an active member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Newark, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. After moving to Hackettstown, Mrs. Muench became a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Great Meadows, N.J., where she was an active volunteer making pierogies with her friends. Jean enjoyed staying up-to-date on current events, reading and attending the Warren County Library Book Club. Jean is pre-deceased by her husband, Gerard C. Muench, Sr., and sister, Elizabeth Hopler. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Wurzel, twin daughters, Hildie (Muench) Dunn, Josie Muench, and son, Gerard C. Muench Jr. and his wife, Kim. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Teresa, Brian, Michael (Dunn), Tamara DeVine, Luke and Kayla Muench.
