Peter Chakiris

Peter Chakiris, 81, of Whiting, NJ (formerly of Flanders, NJ) died on November 7, 2018 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ.
Peter was born on September 28, 1937 in Newark, NJ to the late George and Betty Chakiris.
Peter proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married the love of his life Carol Babitsky in 1959 and together celebrated 56 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2015.
He was a NY Yankees fan and loved cars. Peter was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Whiting, NJ
He is survived by his loving children, Diane Gerstner and her husband Jeff, Karen DeHaas, Cynthia Chakiris Carney. 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. He also leaves behind 2 great-granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife Carol.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ
