Paul L Guterl

Paul L Guterl, 75 , of Schooley's Mountain, NJ passed away peacefully on January 22, 2020 at Hackettstown Medical Center with his family by his side. Paul was born on July 25, 1944 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Francis and Ruth Anne Guterl. Paul attended Iona College for three years before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, Paul worked as a machinist for the Hardinge Inc then later Action Machinery. He married the love of his life Susan. They moved to Schooley's Mountain in 1974 where they raised two daughters. Paul earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying aerobatics in his open cockpit bi-plane. He also loved race-cars. He built numerous cars and was able to fulfill one of his dreams driving a NASCAR. He was also a very talented musician who loved to sing and play the acoustic guitar the banjo and the dulcimer.
Above all he loved his family and spending time with them. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife Susan, his loving daughters, Kelly Guterl and Christine Davila; his cherished granddaughter Elizabeth Davila his sister Anne Mackie and her husband Jim and his brother Thomas Guterl and his wife Bonnie. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 1-3 & 6-8 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church; 2 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853 Entombment will immediately follow the mass at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home.
