Paul J. Aldighieri, 84, of Ridgewood, NJ (formally of Flanders, NJ) passed away peacefully at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ on July 11, 2017.
Paul was born on January 28, 1933 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Jerome and Elsie Aldighieri.
Paul graduated from Ridgefield Park High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. He met and married the love of his life Joanne. They were married for 46 years until her passing. Paul was truck and school bus driver most of his life. He was a past member of the Independence Fire Department. Paul was of the Catholic faith and a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in Hackettstown prior to moving to Ridgewood. He served as a 3rd Degree Knight in the George Kilmer Council of the Knights of Columbus. Paul was an avid bowler. He enjoyed trips to the casinos and watching football. Paul and his wife Joanne loved to travel.
Above all, he was a caring, giving person who loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his caring sister-in-laws, Carmella Terranova and Carmalina Aldighieri, his loving nieces, Barbara Lockhart and her husband Robert, Ellen Gragnano and her husband Carmen, Diane Terranova and Lynn Fitzpatrick. His nephews, Donald Scalpone and his wife Trish, Timothy Scalpone and his wife Hillary and Tom Terranova and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Peter, Jerry and George.
