Olga P. Gannett, 95, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2018 with her loving daughter by her side.
Olga was born on June 7, 1923 in Newark, NJ to the late Julius and Julia Kovacs.
Olga met and married the love of her life William Gannett shortly after graduation. They moved to Hackettstown in 1957. Olga was a staple in the community. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 282. She served as a Girl Scout leader for many years and was a member of the Woodmen Life Chapter 45 Club. Olga brought smiles to many faces over the years. She served as a crossing guard for Saint Mary's School students for 50 years until her retirement in 2013. She loved her job and took pride in assisting the children daily on their way to and from school. She was a recipient of several awards over the years which included 40 years of service award and a Service to the Public Award from the Chamber of Commerce. Olga also received a Proclamation from the town of Hackettstown in 2009 for her dedicated service and has a street named after her. Above all, Olga treasured her daughter Susan. She will be greatly missed by all.
Olga is survived by her loving daughter, Susan Gannett, 2 caring sisters, Ann Isenesger and Ann Margaret Krupa. 2 nieces, Lynn Michtgard and Lauren Michtgard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her devoted husband William who passed in 1982. Her brother, John and a niece Janice.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Internment will immediately follow the Mass at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth, NJ
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Olga's name to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Drive, Newton, NJ 07860. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Scala Memorial Home 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
