Nancy Lively Talmadge-Scarano

Nancy Lively Talmadge Scarano, 71, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024 at home surrounded by family.

Nancy was born on March 14, 1953 in Nutley, NJ to the late Winona and Richard Talmadge. She was raised in Morristown and graduated from Newark School of Fine Arts in 1975. In 1981, she married the love of her life, Francis J. Scarano. She worked as an art director and graphic designer for Woman’s World magazine before settling in Hackettstown to raise her children. An artist in every respect, her pastel works were inspired by the landscapes of the Northeast and Florida, as well as by the people she loved. As a steadfast member of the community, Nancy was a true light. In her twenties, she embroidered her denim jacket with the words, “Friend, remember I care.” While she joked about it, anyone who spent but ten minutes with her would attest the words were genuine. A loyal, devoted friend, wife, daughter, mother and sister, she radiated compassion, empathy and love. The love she shared will be carried by all those who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband Francis, her loving children, Paris Scarano, Lane Scarano and his wife Rachael. She also leaves behind her caring brother Douglas Van Talmadge, nieces, a nephew and a multitude of friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held on Friday, June 28th at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, Hackettstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s name to Trinity.
