Mary was born on February 3, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Stefania DeMay.
Growing up in Queens Village, NY she was a graduate of Brooklyn High School. Mary attended Central Needle Trade, to become a talented seamstress and wonderful cook. She moved to Hackettstown in 1969. Soon she volunteered as a cafeteria aide at Hatchery Hill School then soon was working at Bate's manufacturing. She proudly worked as a crossing guard and matron for the Hackettstown Police Department. Mary was employed by M & M Mar's as a printer until her retirement.
Mary was a member of the Hackettstown Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed going out to play Bingo and cards with her neighbors. She especially enjoyed her bus trips to Atlantic City with her friends at M&M. Above all she loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them. She will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her three loving children; Her daughter and best friend, Christine Marie Mazzola, her daughter Linda Anne Schaarschmidt and husband Steve, and her son John Thomas Mazzola and his wife Linda. Also, by her adored grandchildren; Steven, Kevin, & Sara Schaarschmidt, and Olivia & Joseph Mazzola.
Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM and again on Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 9-10 AM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday December 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow the service at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, NJ
