Mary Jane Kafarski

Mary Jane Kafarski, 90, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully at The Meadows of Heath Village on December 10, 2022.

Mary Jane was born on August 3, 1932 in Nashua, New Hampshire to the late Frederick and Emilda Sylvester.

Mary Jane, known to her friends as Jane, was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Jamaica Queens, NY. She married Stanley Thomas Kafarski in 1956 and the couple celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2010. Jane was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Mountain Church in Long Valley, NJ where she served as a member on the Altar Rosary Society. Jane worked as the secretary of the CCD program for many years. She was also a member of the Mansfield Seniors and enjoyed planning and attending their trips. Jane loved quilting and was a member of the Quilters of Hope. She enjoyed knitting, baking, and spending time with her family and many friends. She was an animal lover and enjoyed the company of her cats. She will be sadly missed by all.

Jane is survived by her loving children, Ann Palmer and her husband John of Bethlehem, PA, Nancy Gardner and her husband Michael of Hackettstown, NJ and Scott Kafarski of Brick, NJ. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Gregory Palmer, Matthew Palmer, Nicholle Weir, Amy Palmer, Megan Gardner, Molly Gardner, Sofia Kafarski and Max Kafarski; great-grandchildren, Lia Palmer and Owen Weir.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 10AM-12PM at Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 12:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, NJ
