Maria Sisto

Maria Sisto, 76, of Great Meadows, NJ passed away peacefully on October 18, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ with her loving family gathered by her side. Marie was born on December 16, 1944 in Caposele, Italy to the late Salvatore and Rosa Merola The family came to America when Marie was 13, where they settled in Newark, NJ. She married, had children and then went on to further her education attending cosmetology school. She became a licensed esthetician and worked hard for over 35 years valuing the friendships and relationships with her clients that she made over the years. Marie loved cooking --- especially for family and friends. She was a tremendous cook and loved making jars and jars of tomato sauce every year, following her beloved mother's ways and carrying on long - standing family traditions. She was selfless and so generous, always putting the needs of her children, grandchildren and brothers first. Marie was also an avid reader, loved watching old Italian movies, and she was a bit of a guru at trading stocks. Above all, she loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her loving children; Denise Sisto and her husband Ash Salib, Debbie Brown and her husband Bobby, and Nicola Sisto and his wife Tonya. Her cherished grandchildren: Alexandria, Anthony, Brielle, Zachary, Gianna and Isabella. Her caring brothers: Michele Merola, Alfonso Merola and Gerard Merola and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 4-8 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 360 US Route 46, Great Meadows, NJ 07838. Burial will take place at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, NJ.
