Lillian Jean Murray, 94, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of Crossville, TN and Rockaway, NJ passed away peacefully on October 9, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
Lillian was born on June 17, 1928 in New York, NY to the late Gerald and Charlotte Neal.
She married the love of her life Robert Murray and together celebrated 56 years of marriage prior to his death in 2017.
Lillian was employed as a bookkeeper, however her passion and main employment was that of an artist. She was very talented and created many oil paintings, sketches and even taught art classes while living in Tennessee. She was a member of the the Rocky Top Decorative Painters in Knoxville, TN and the Lake Tansi Art League and a past member of CACE in Cumberland City. When in New Jersey she was a past president of the Rockaway Library and a member of the Goldfinch Society of Decorative Arts. Lillian was an animal lover and supported animal rescues. Above all she loved her family. She will be greatly missed.
Lillian is survived by her loving children; daughter, Caryn Murray, sons, Michael Murray, Robert Murray Jr and his wife Roe, grandchildren, Shawn Murray, Brittany Wager and her husband Dylan, Jessica Ryder, Kelly Farrell and her husband Dan, Kara Murray and great grandchild Landyn Wager. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her brother Norbert Balle and sister-in-law Lillian Balle
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 2-4:30 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Memorial service celebrating Lillian’s life will immediately follow the visitation at 4:30 in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lillian’s name to the 11th Hour Rescue, PO Box 218, Rockaway, NJ 07866
