Laverne Bates Wormley

LaVerne Bates Wormley, 95, of Andover, NJ passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020 in Morristown, NJ Laverne was born on January 26, 1925 in Texarkana, Texas to the late Frank and Alberta Bates. Laverne was a school teacher for the Los Angeles City School district for many years prior to her retirement. She resided in California for 30 years prior to moving back to New Jersey. She was of the Lutheran faith. Laverne loved sports, particularly baseball. She was a die-hard Dodger fan. Rooting for them when they were in Brooklyn and then when she moved to Los Angeles, California. She continued to follow Dusty Baker even after he left the Dodgers. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She would often take her son Lonnie to see them practice at training camp.
She will be sadly missed. Laverne is survived by her children, son Lonnie Wormley and daughter Deborah Vietze.
Due to public gathering restrictions, burial will be private. For those who knew and loved Laverne you are encouraged to share a message, memory or story with the family on the Tribute Wall.
