Kenneth E. Klinger, 89, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side.
Kenneth was born on November 20, 1931 in Herndon, PA to the late Guy and Helen Klinger. He grew up hunting in Pennsylvania woods for deer and rabbits with his Father and his Uncle Roy and his rabbit dog Admiral Kenny. He spoke fondly of those memories his entire life.
He worked as an electrician in Herndon, PA while still a teenager and later in his own business. After graduating high school Kenneth proudly served his country abroad in the United States Navy during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Interior Communications Technician Petty Officer 1st class. After returning home he married the love of his life, Emma Jane Klock. Kenneth was employed as a NY hospital electrician and an elevator mechanic. He became Superintendent and later Manager of a 1235 apartment housing complex in New York City with over 150 employees. He was awarded several accommodations including a certificate for one of the Best and most successfully Managed Co-Op's in NY City.
He retired in 1997 enjoying more time with his family and beloved grandchildren. He was very proud of his heritage and was an avid family historian. He loved to do crossword puzzles, word jumbles and was a vocabulary aficionado.
He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything and all things electric. He enjoyed working on cars and building things, hunting and fishing. He loved to go RVing and the Delaware shore was one of his favorite destinations and never missed an opportunity to go clamming.
He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Kenneth is a past member of Faith Lutheran Church in Herndon, PA where he served on the choir. He was a life member of the Mandata American Legion Post 504, a past member of the Sunbury VFW Post 1532. He would say that his greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He will be sadly missed. Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife; Emma Klinger, his loving children; daughter, Deborah Dean his son, Keith Klinger and his wife Susan, and his cherished grandchildren, Robert Dean and Kristina Klinger. He was predeceased by his brother Carlos and his twin brother Merle. He also lost his sister Mary at a young age.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, RR 147, Herndon, PA 17830.
