John F Boyne

John F. Boyne, 85, of New Holland, PA (formerly of Hackettstown, NJ) passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023.

John was born on September 9, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Vida Boyne.

John married the love of his life, Antoinette Bak. Together they celebrated 49 years of marriage until her passing in 2021. John was a true scholar, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Catholic University of America, Washington DC in Philosophy, a Bachelor of Arts from University of Louvaine, Louvain, Belgium in Theology and a Master of Social Work from Fordham University in NY. His education and knowledge served him well professionally; he was employed as Ground Operations Manager for Pan Am Airways at JFK in NY, a Caseworker for Catholic Charities in Brooklyn, NY. He then went on to be the Psychiatric Social Worker Clinical Director for Community Mental health Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital in NY; John served as Executive Director at Our House counseling center in South Orange, NJ as well as Executive Director at Spaulding for Children adoption agency in Westfield, NJ. John was a realtor of Boyne Realty in Jersey City, NJ. He was the Program Director for Catholic Charities Diocese of Metuchen, NJ, ending his career as the Clinical supervisor of Catholic Social Agency Diocese of Allentown, PA. John was an avid reader and a poet. In his early years he enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. He was truly an amazing man who loved his family and treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.

John is survived by his loving children; Denis Keily, Laurie Vonderhaar and her husband Kevin, grandchildren; Erika Hollinger and Ben Keily and his great-grandchildren; Ezra, Elighah, Micah and Seraphina Hollinger. In addition to his devoted wife Antoinette, he is preceded in death by his brother James and Robert Boyne.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 9:30 AM. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
