Joanne Catherine Connolly

Joanne Catherine Connolly, 76, of Long Valley, NJ passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 18, 2023 in Hackettstown, NJ.

She was born on July 10, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Anthony and Anne DeVenezia.

She married the love of her life, Edward Connolly in 1967. Above all her family was her world. One of the best moments of her life was when she became "Grammy" 27 years ago. She devoted her life to taking care of her grandchildren. She was there for every event they had including horse shows, games, and all school events. She made her daughters' lives so much easier by always be there to help with kids in any way that was needed. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and she adored them. She also loved spending time with all of her brothers and sisters and all of their families. She will be greatly missed.

She resided in Long Valley for the past 43 years. Joanne was a graduate of Morristown High School and previously worked as a Bookkeeper for her father’s business, DeVenezia Construction. She also enjoyed crocheting, horseback riding (in her younger years), and playing Mahjong with her friends. She was also a past member of the Rosary Society at Our Lady of the Mountain Church in Long Valley.

Joanne is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Connolly, her loving children; Mindy Drake and Suzanne Stephani and her husband Michalis. Her adored grandchildren; Brittany and Amber Drake and Maria and Nicholas Stephani. She also leaves behind her siblings; Carol Meola, Jack DeVenezia, Bob DeVenezia and Frances Ott. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother Chris DeVenezia.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from 3-5 PM at Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, 2 East Springtown Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Hackettstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanne’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942
