Joan Estelle Gallagher

Joan Estelle Gallagher, 84, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on May 7, 2018 at The House of the Good Shepherd.
Joan was born on November 10, 1933 in Binghamton, NY to the late John Ingersoll and Dorothy Black.
After graduating from Rahway High School in 1951, Joan worked as an adjuster in the insurance industry and was employed by Atlantic Mutual. She was of the Episcopalian faith. Joan enjoyed the arts, was a member of the drama and theatre clubs, and loved listening and dancing to music from the Big Band Era. She also had a passion for cooking and gardening, plus was an avid reader of murder mysteries, especially Stephen King. Joan loved vacationing at her favorite place, Cape Cod, and enjoyed swimming and sunbathing. She adored her beloved cockatiel bird "Knip", who always brightened her day with his cheerful songs. Joan is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy Gallagher, along with her grandsons Sean, Brandon, and Matthew Gallagher and Daniel Syers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Michael Gallagher, and daughter, Kathleen (Gallagher) Darvin.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
