Jean P Zaneski

Jean P. Zaneski, 73, of Allamuchy, NJ passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025 at St. Clare’s Medical Center in Denville, NJ with her loving children by her side.

Jean was born on January 5, 1952 in West Orange, NJ to the late Henry and Harriet Jaheriss.

Growing up in Livingston, NJ she was a graduate of East Orange Catholic High School, class of 1970. Jean married the love of her life, John Zaneski who passed on March 14th of this year. She and John met on a blind date on April 1, 1974, they married 7 months later. Poetically she passed on the anniversary of that blind date.

Jean was very independent, an excellent cook, and loved to entertain. Though the love for her family knew no bounds, her compassion & generosity often extended to others; finding joy in opening her doors to those in need and serving as the “adoptive” parent of many. She was the most selfless person in the world.

Jean enjoyed gardening outdoors, her green thumb made her houseplants thrive. Jean was an animal lover and had many pets over the years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching shows with her husband, and spending time with her children. Her infectious laugh will be missed by all.

She is survived by her son David & wife Joanne; her daughter Patricia; and her many honorary children. In addition to her devoted husband John Zaneski, she is preceded in death by her siblings Patricia Mahoney and Richard Jaheriss.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 12-2:30 PM at Maguire Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ. A funeral service celebrating Jean’s life will immediately follow at 2:30 PM at the funeral home.
