James M Smith

James “Jim” Michael Smith, 75, of Budd Lake, NJ passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side.


Jim was born on March 7, 1949 in Somerville, NJ to the late George and Julia Smith.


Jim earned his Bachelor’s degree from Bloomfield College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jim was a member of the 101st Airborne. He was a Tiger Scout, also known as a Kit Carson Scout providing surveillance to his fellow troops. He married the love of his life Mary Elizabeth (nee; Callahan) in 1980. Jim resided in Budd Lake, NJ for 42 years. Prior to that he lived in Long Valley, NJ. Jim loved sports and was past president of Mount Olive Wrestling and Jr. Wrestling Clubs. He enjoyed softball and coached softball and Baseball. Above all he loved his children and granddaughter. He will be greatly missed.


Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Mary Smith. His loving children; Erin Smith and Andrew Smith and his granddaughter, Allison Smith.


Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery with Military honors.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Maguire Memorial Home.
