Jadwiga Puchacz, 93, of Hackettstown, New Jersey, formerly of Edison, NJ passed away peacefully on May 14, 2022 at home with her loving family by her side.
Jadwiga, lovingly called Jadzia was born on April 10, 1929 in Kuzczyn, Poland to the late Stanislaw and Jozefa (nee; Sedziak) Puchacz.
Jadwiga earned an Apprenticeship License as a Seamstress in Poland and then went on to earn her Master License to become a Seamstress Teacher. Her passion of design followed her to the United States when she arrived in 1963. She also taught many and she was a highly sought after wedding dress designer. She made the entire bridal party dresses including the bride's gown for her nieces and many family friends. Never using a pattern. She traveled to New York City and carefully selected every piece of fabric and gemstones herself. Her talent did not stop with dresses; Jadwiga made beautiful drapery and centerpieces. She was also employed by Revlon in Edison, NJ prior to her retirement as a Product Quality Controller Inspector. Jadwiga loved to travel and took many senior bus trips to Atlantic City to play her favorite slots. Her most treasured travel adventures where taken with her sisters. Together they explored, Lourdes, France, Fatima, Portugal, Canada and even Dollywood, Tennessee. Jadwiga was also an avid family photographer.
Jadwiga was a devout Catholic. She was a parishioner of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Perth Amboy for many years prior to moving to Hackettstown. While at the St. Stephen's parish she was a member of the Polish Rosary Society and held the positions of Treasurer and Secretary for many years. Jadzia was also a member of the Secular Franciscan Order Society. Jadwiga was also a Communicant at St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen with her sister, Sophie for many years. She was a member of the Edison Senior Citizens Club. Upon moving to Hackettstown, she became a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church in Great Meadows.
She is survived by her loving sister; Stella Lempicki, her caring nieces; Josephine Forestiere and her husband James, Jean Kovach and her husband Bert, Zofia Bielaszka and her husband Jeff, and nephews, Vincent Sendziak Jr. and his companion Connie, Mark Puchacz and his wife Agata and Jurek Lempicki.
She also leaves behind her cousin in Poland Eugene Sedziak and his family and many great and great-great nieces and great and great-great nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Jan Puchacz, Janina Pajko and Sophie Sendziak. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 8-10:00 AM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 18, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 360 US Route 46, Great Meadows, NJ 07838. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA
