Helga F. Coyne, 87, a lifelong resident of 51 years of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on July 27, 2021 at Heath Village in Hackettstown, NJ. Helga was born on September 15, 1933 in Queens, New York to the late Joseph and Anne Faltin. Helga graduated from Bryant High School in 1951. Her career started at Bonwit Teller an upscale Department Store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan. She was a sales person in the women's dress department.
A year later she was assistant manager in the millenary department at Tailored Women, a boutique department store at 57th street and 5th avenue in Manhattan. She was a photographers model and her image was featured in advertisements that appeared in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Town & Country Magazines. She married her husband in 1953 and in 1959 they started an advertising agency located on 5th Avenue in NYC. Some of the agencies clients included Harry Winston, Movado Watches, Piaget Watches, Banco & Mercier watches and other high end jewelry companies. Helga was Vice-President in charge of public relations and oversaw most photo shoots and copy approval. She was a major reason the business was successful. In 1976 the Ad Agency was sold. In 1981 Helga and her husband opened a distinctive upscale retail store "The Sunshine Barn" located on Route 57 in Hackettstown. It featured home furnishings, decorative accessories, fine jewelry, antiques and green houses. After 10 years of successful operation, the store was closed and Helga decided to retire and spend more time with family and friends and pay more attention to her home.
She spent thousands of hours over 24 years working to raise money for the VNA of Somerset Hill's. She received an award in 2015 recognizing her outstanding efforts. Helga loved dancing, sailing, traveling and her German Shepherds.
She was an avid collector of fine art, decorative accessories, antiques that were distinctive and unique. She was a very attractive woman with an engaging personality who above all loved her family and treasured every moment spent together. She will be remembered as a charming outgoing personality that few could ignore.
She is survived by her devoted husband Edward, loving children, son Keith Coyne and his wife Donna, daughter Andrea Charney, 2 cherished grandchildren, Brian , Patrick, and 2 cherished great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Sawyer. A Memorial service celebrating Helga's life will be held at a later date.
