Helen Runyeon Wiprud Hills, 94, of Hackettstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024 at The Meadows of Heath Village.
Helen was born on December 9, 1929 in Reading, PA, to the late Frank and Helen Runyeon.
She was a graduate of Wellesley College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. She was employed as a writer and editor for the US Department of Education. Helen was a talented writer who published seven books of inspiring takes on life, as well as amassing volumes of unpublished essays. She was an accomplished equestrian, having taken up riding while raising her family in Maryland. She continued to keep horses and ride well into her 80s, after retiring to Warwick, Massachusetts.
Helen is survived by her loving children; Brian Wiprud and his partner Joanne, Theodore Wiprud and his wife Kim, and Valerie Allen; her stepdaughter Anne Hills; her grandchildren Margaret, Jenny, Richard, Allegra, and Marlon; and great-grandchildren Jaxon and Kara.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Grant Wiprud, her second husband Ralph Hills, her brother William Runyeon and twin sister Mary Owen, and her daughter Rebecca.
Honoring Helen’s wishes, all services will be private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Maguire Memorial Home.
