Helen Sterker Crifasi, 93, of Washington Township, Morris County, NJ joined the Lord on June 12, 2018.
Helen was born on February 19, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to the late William and Wilma Sterker.
She retired after 25 years from the NYC Dept. of Parks & Recreation, where she finished her tenure as an Administrative Parks & Recreation Manager in Brooklyn and in Staten Island. She worked in all five boroughs during her career in the Parks Dept. She married the love of her life, Joseph Crifasi on Nov. 12, 1979 and moved to Washington Twp. She was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church in Long Valley. Helen was an active member of her parish, a devoted Eucharistic Minister, and member of the Rosary Altar Society. Helen loved the Lord, her family, her friends, and all animals, and she always had a special place in her heart for children. Her many interests included flower arranging, crafting, reading, gardening and entertaining.
Helen is survived by her loving cousins JoAnne Reilly and Richard Forman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph, and siblings Billy, Dorothy, Agnes, Rev. Monsignor Louis Sterker, and Rev. Monsignor Roy Aiken.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church, 2 E. Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ 07853. Burial will immediately follow the mass in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's name to a charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Scala Memorial Home 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
