Helen 'Helene' Beam

Helen "Helene" Beam, 93, of Pleasantville, NJ passed away peacefully on July 14, 2020 at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, NJ Helene was born on July 18, 1926 in Allamuchy, NJ to the late Peter and Frances Grabinski.
Helene was employed at Bates Manufacturing in Hackettstown, NJ for many years prior to her retirement. She was a faithful woman and a past parishioner who attended mass regulary at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Great Meadows, NJ. Helene enjoyed partaking in church events, especially making the pierogis and galumpkis for the church sales. Helene had many hobbies and interest such as: knitting, sewing, watching soap operas, and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending every moment she could with her children, grand-children, great-grandchildren and her closet friends. Above all she loved her family. She will truly be greatly missed. Helene is survived by her loving children, daughters; Kathleen Smith (Edward), Margaret Kelly (Bob), and Rosemary Schmeal. Her caring brother Tony Grabinski (Rose). Her cherished grandchildren; Michael Ahlstedt (Sara), Stephen Ahlstedt (Clarissa), Steven Smith (Alissa), Alicia Clark (Patrick), Megan Kelly (Robb), Greg Zarger (Lucy), Heather Heigert (Michael) and her great-grandchildren, Riley, Avery, Derek, Jason, Danielle, Amelia, Mitchell, Taylor Jo, Jackie, Jayden and Lily. She is preceded in death by her 1st husband John Schmeal who passed in 1997. Her 2nd husband Ralph Beam, her son John "Jack" Schmeal (Connie), her great-grandchild Margaret, and her siblings Walter, Johnny, Frank and Michael. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home; 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 PM in the funeral home with Father Wasyl Kharuk officiating. Interment will take place at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadows.
