Gloria Mattera

Gloria Mattera, 92, of Independence Township, NJ passed away peacefully on April 27, 2018 at home with her loving daughter by her side.
Gloria was born on August 25, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Salvatore and Marioochia Conti. Gloria resided for 71 years in Elmont Long Island, NY prior to moving to Independence 21 years ago. She was of the Catholic faith and a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Hackettstown, NJ. Gloria was active in the church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She had many hobbies including gardening, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed home decorating and crafts.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Darlene Mattera and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband Peter Mattera who passed in 1999. She is also preceded in death by her 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Church Of The Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. Entombment will immediately follow the Mass at Locust Hill Cemetery, 168 N. Sussex Street. Dover, NJ 07801
