Gertrude “Trudy” Augusta Fryer (nee; Frahm) a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend left this world peacefully on April 12, 2023 at the age of 95.
Trudy was born on October 3, 1927 in Oradell, NJ to the late Ernst and Augusta Frahm. One of seven children, she is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Andrew, Charles, Hildegard, and Ernest and a great-grandson Luke. Survived by her 2 sisters, Margaret and Barbara.
Trudy graduated from Westwood High School in Westwood, NJ. She married the love of her life, Franklin Fryer on April 24, 1949. They celebrated 59 years of marriage prior to his passing on August 15, 2008. Together they have 4 sons, Frank, Douglas and his wife Kathy (d.), David and his wife Dorothy and Richard and his wife Tracie. Trudy was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In earlier years she was employed at W.T. Grant in Hackensack and later at Eddie Bauer in Paramus. Her happiest times were spent during summers at Panther Lake Campground where she camped for 60 years. For 30 of those years she worked in the office and enjoyed greeting and assisting campers. Her smile, laughter and warm sense of humor brightened many campers day. Trudy was an avid reader; she particularly enjoyed reading novels that took place in Ireland and Scotland. Shopping was her favorite hobby. Her family loved looking at all of her “bargains” in Grandma's trunk store.
A celebration of life will be held, Sunday, April 23rd from 1:00-4:00 at Independence Township Volunteer Fire Department, 24 Cemetery Rd, Great Meadows, NJ 07838
