Gail S. Hatfield, 72, of Long Valley, NJ passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024 at Hackensack University Medical Center, with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 30, 1952 to the late William and Audrey Carpenter in Clifton, NJ. She married the love of her life John (Jay) N. Hatfield in 1975, and together they celebrated 45 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2020. After Jay's passing, Gail connected with Alan Segal, and spent the remaining years of her life with him alongside the Musconetcong River, which she loved immensely.
Gail was employed as a Dental Assistant for many years, retiring in 2023. She loved making patients feel at ease and socializing with them. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a past Girl Scout Troop Leader where she brought five of her original Girl Scouts to their Gold Award. Gail loved the outdoors- she enjoyed hiking, bike riding, boating, gardening, being out in the sun and watching life along "the river." She loved the Jersey Shore, and the time she spent with her family on Long Beach Island, Island Beach State Park or Cape May. She loved light houses, and will be remembered for her annual climb of Barnegat Light to enjoy the spectacular views of the ocean. Gail was incredibly free-spirited, and loved crystals, reiki and all things spiritual. Above all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and Alan. She will be greatly missed.
Gail is survived by her loving children- daughter Kelly Cross, and her husband Jonathan, son Kyle Hatfield, and his wife Amy, and her cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Emma, Hailey, Lily and Hunter. She leaves behind her life partner Alan Segal, her brother Scott Carpenter, and his wife Kelly, and her two sisters, Jane Marron, and her husband Michael, and Lori Harris.
