Gabriel Decarolis

Gabriel DeCarolis Jr., 81, of Blairstown, NJ passed away peacefully on January 7, 2022 at Hackettstown Medical Center.
Gabriel was born on May 5th, 1940 in Dover, NJ to the late Gabriel and Frances DeCarolis Sr.
Gabriel graduated from Dover High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life Caroline Shafransky in 1985 and resided in Budd Lake, NJ prior to moving to Frelinghuysen Township, NJ in 1987. Gabriel was employed as a Building Services Manager prior to his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion in Belvidere. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved the woods and operating his chainsaw. Gabriel was an animal lover especially his 3 favorite cats, all named Blacky and his dog Spot.
Gabriel is survived by his devoted wife, Caroline DeCarolis, his loving children, Marty DeCarolis and his wife Kathy, Michael Perkons and his wife Yennga, Anne Marabella and her husband Pasquale and Mark DeCarolis, grandchildren, Coral, Katie, Casey, Cy, Michael, Victoria, Billy and Bobby and great-grandchildren Althea and Makayla, a brother Mike, sister Caroline and his nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 3-7:30 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11:00 at Ss. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 360 Hwy 46, Great Meadows, NJ 07838. Burial will take place at the Northern NJ Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Sparta.
Flowers are welcome or donations in Gabriel's name to the Northern NJ Veteran's Memorial Cemetery 75 North Church Road, Sparta, NJ 07871 to assist with cemetery upkeep.
