Fred Cliff

December 24, 1953 — May 15, 2024

Fred Cliff, Jr., 70, of Glen Rock, NJ (formerly of Hawthorne, NJ) passed away on May 15, 2024.

Fred was born on December 24, 1953 in Paterson, NJ to the late Fred and Johanna Cliff.

Fred was a graduate of Hawthorne High School and married the love of his life, Deborah Mitchell. In his younger years, Fred proudly owned and operated his own bakery – Kamp’s Bakery. Once he sold the business, he became known as the “bread man” for Freihofer Bread Company before later working as a furniture salesman for Bob’s Furniture.

Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Yankees and Giants. He was a history buff, storyteller and someone who remembered every detail and never forgot a birthday or anniversary. There was no end to his love, it was unconditional and all encompassing. Above all, Fred was a very proud great uncle to his 15 great nieces and nephews. His last days were spent with the people he loved the most.

Fred was survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Deborah Cliff; his brother-in-law, Bruce Rigg; his brother-in-law, Peter Mitchell and wife, Sharon; his nieces and nephews, Christian Rigg and wife, Kathryn; Stephen Rigg and wife, Danielle; Jennifer Rutkowski and husband, David; Jeffrey Turner and wife, Lauren; and Stephanie Early and husband, Ben. Alex and Michael Fuchs were also very special part of his life and Fred loved them as his own.

In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his sister JoAnne Rigg (Cliff).

The funeral will be a private ceremony, remembering Fred in the presence of close family.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent, 2001 West 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
