Florence J Commander

Florence J. Commander, 94, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of Lake Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on January 17, 2021 at the House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown. Florence was born on September 5, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to the late William and Sophie Knoll.
She was a homemaker and worked for AT&T for many years. She loved her family. She married the love of her life Timothy Commander on May 8, 1948.
Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1992. Florence enjoyed reading, particularly novels.
She also enjoyed needlework. She was a member of the Hopatcong Senior Citizens club and enjoyed the many bus trips to various events and casinos. Florence was a lifetime member of Deborah Hospital Foundation. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her loving children, daughter, Lois Commander and her husband Roy Fredericks and son Timothy Commander Jr. and his wife Linda. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Florence was laid to rest beside her husband on January 21, 2021 in the mausoleum at Newton Cemetery in Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Florence's name to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills, 08015 or Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
