Evelyn O Bockbrader

Mrs. Evelyn O (Kuhlman) Bockbrader died at the ripe old age of 103. She most recently lived at Barn Hill nursing facility in Newton NJ, at Mira Vie in Belvidere NJ, and in Panther Valley, Hackettstown NJ. Before that she was a 63-year resident of Pemberville in Wood County Ohio. She was born October 14, 1921 in Sylvania OH to Joseph F and Orsalena B (Smeltz) Kuhlman.

Mrs. Bockbrader was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Hackettstown and its Women’s Group, as well as the Hackettstown Regional Medical Center Guild. In Ohio, she was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Pemberville where she served on its vestry. She was a charter member of the Country Village Garden Club in Pemberville OH and served two terms as president and was an active member until she moved to New Jersey to be closer to her children. She was a nine-year member of the Wood County Fair Board, serving as head of the Floral Department. She volunteered at the Pemberville Fair for its annual flower show. She was an experienced horticulturist and a trained flower show judge.

Evelyn was a member of Perrysburg High School Class of 1938, graduating with honors and as secretary. She organized class reunions for as many years as classmates would attend.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond H (1977), son-in-law Terence Nyman (2013), grandson, Rupert Norris (2013), and son-in-law William Witthans (2022). Surviving are two sons: Ronald H (Kathy), Andover NJ; William H, Taos NM; three daughters: Mary Lou (William), Sun City AZ; Constance R (Terence) Nyman, Syracuse NY; Barbara J (Robin Norris), Alford MA; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Her wisdom, sense of humor and gentle nature will be sorely missed.
