Elsie E. Tanis

Elsie E. Tanis, 93, of Palm Bay, Fl, formerly of Hackettstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2018 at Anchor Care Center in Palm Bay, Fl.
Elsie was born on January 11, 1925 in Staten Island, NY to the late Thorleif and Ragnhild Rennas.
Elsie resided most of her life in Hackettstown, NJ, prior to living in Paterson, NJ. She was employed as a unit secretary at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center prior to her retirement. Elsie was a member of the Hackettstown Baptist Church. She was very involved in the church and was a member of the choir for many years. Elsie loved to sing.
She is survived by her loving children, sons, Robert Tanis and his wife Mary and Paul Tanis, her daughters, Catherine Kraker and her husband Randall, and Lorna Martinez and her husband Raymond. She also leaves behind her 13 cherished grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her devoted husband Robert Tanis who passed in 1995; her loving daughter, Cynthia Hunger; and her sisters, Gerd Johnson and Gladys Myers.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, July 26 at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 between 4:00 & 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Hackettstown Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ.
