Elias Joseph Varga

Elias Joseph Varga, 88 of Tyler Hill, PA and formerly of Carteret, NJ passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA.

Elias was born on June 8, 1935 in Perth Amboy, NJ to the late Elias and Anna Varga.

Elias married the love of his life in 1956. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage prior to her passing on December 13, 2023. He was employed as an Operations Manager for GATX in Carteret prior to his retirement and moving to Tyler Hill, PA. Elias was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and everything outdoors. Above all he loved his family. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sons, David Varga and wife Clare of Hancock, NH and Barry Varga of Branchville, NJ; his grandchildren, Jake Varga and Evan Ainsworth, his brother Joseph Varga and nieces Veronica Smith and Kimberly Musgrove.

In addition to his wife Alice Varga he is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsay Varga and a sister-in-law Jill Varga.

Family and Friends may pay their respects on Friday May 17, 2024 from 6 to 8 PM at Maguire Memorial Home & Cremation Services, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church, 2 East Springfield Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853. Entombment will follow at The Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, NJ
