Dorothy E Schmidling

Dorothy E. Schmidling, 75, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on June 18, 2020 at Hackettstown Medical Center. Dorothy was born on May 18, 1945 in Newark, NJ to the late Joseph and Antoinette Patterson.
She married the love of her life George Schmidling on September 27, 1963. She was employed as a junior accountant for Shop-rite prior to her retirement in 2002. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, especially the trips to Jamaica with her husband. Although she retired in 2002, she never really stopped working. She involved herself in volunteerism. Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hackettstown and devoted much of her free time to the many activities at the church, whether it was the woman's club, food pantry or cooking for the homeless she was a true humanitarian. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, George Schmidling, her loving children, daughter; Victoria Lynn Schmidling and her life partner Patricia Sharpe, son; Michael Schmidling and his wife Kelly. Her 2 cherished grandchildren; George and Michael Schmidling. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister Katherine Patterson Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 4-6 PM at the Maguire-Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6PM in the funeral home.
