Deborah Ann Messina, 72 of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026 in Succasunna, NJ.
Deborah was born on October 23, 1953 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Francis and A. Emma Messina.
She was a graduate of Bogota High School Class of 1971. When she relocated with her young daughter in 1979 she planted roots in Hackettstown. Deborah worked in the First National Bank building that was, then, United Jersey Bank Northwest (now Man Skirt Brewery) where she made many friends. Years later, Deborah went on to further her education and was a graduate of the Chubb Institute Class of 1999. After years of working in corporate banking, lending, etc. her time at Chubb reignited the artist she was, at heart, which then served her well as a kitchen designer with Lowes in Hackettstown.
DEBORAH was a talented painter and preferred Oil to acrylic. Along with Pastels, Deb sketched and painted the tree of life so many times it became her personal insignet. She was a fierce card player nicknamed "The Queen of Hearts" and took pride in teaching her grandchildren how to play Texas Hold'em. Her happiest and most peaceful moments were spent puttering around in her garden. And when it came to Halloween, nobody out did Deb. Her costumes were handcrafted, elaborate and always took first prize. We can't' forget to mention those Kentucky Derby hats! She was always the life of any party, lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with her family and dear friends. MORE THAN ANYTHING, DEBORAH loved her Grandchildren AND WAS SO PROUD OF THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. She will be greatly missed BY ALL.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Andrea Lynn Kamaris and her Son-in-law Andrew, her cherished grandchildren, Evan and Beth Kamaris, her caring siblings, Lori Messina and Frank Messina, many nieces and nephews, and her Soul Sister, Maryann McFadden. Her youngest sister, Ellen Galiano, predeceased her at the tender age of 52.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Man Skirt Brewery, 144 Main Street, Hackettstown, NJ to celebrate Deborah's life on Monday, August 10, 2026 from 12-3 PM. There will be laughter, there will be stories and there will be tears.
