Clifford Eugene Shipman “Skipper”, 82 of Hackettstown, NJ (formerly of Lake Hopatcong, NJ) passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023 at Colonial Manor in Allamuchy, NJ.
Skipper was born on January 4, 1941 in Glen Ridge, NJ to the late Charles Townley Shipman II and Viola Landers MacLaughlin.
After High School, he furthered his education at Lafayette College and then earning his Master’s degree from Morris Harvey University in Fayetteville, WV. He was employed as an electrical engineer for ASCO in Florham Park, NJ prior to his retirement in 2002. Skipper earned his nickname on the water. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. His love of sailing continued after the service. He was a member of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club. Past President of the Lake Hopatcong Antique Boat Association. He loved sail racing and had a very competitive side to him. Skipper also had his own business Shipman Boat works repairing and restoring antique boats.
He is survived by his loving sister, Susan Shuster and her husband Carl.
